Alain Dister: “He played a rather small gymnasium, with a tiny stage at the end. The atmosphere is totally impersonal. Between 500 and 600 people have turned up Gerry Stickells, the road-manager, drives the van that takes all of us to the concert place. From the first notes onwards it is ecstasy on stage. I never heard something like this before. A strong vibration is taking me far away. It liberates me from a lot of things. Jimi performs a ballet with his guitar he turns it into a living object, trembling like a creature of flesh. The numbers follow each other in a flow of colours finally a terrific ‘Wild Thing’, during which the stage seems to burn. At the end he throws his guitar on the floor after coaxing lacerating sounds out of it. Long after he has left the stage, the amplifiers still are making rumbling noises. We are left, plunged in a bath of vibrations, grooving on the last wave of a subtle and pleasant perfume.“

The Experience perform at Regis College in Denver, Colorado. Soft Machine opens. Meanwhile, in London, Les Perrin accepts Hendrix’s Disc & Music Echo award for “Top World Musician.” The ceremony takes place at the “Valentine’s Night Ball” at the Empire Rooms on Tottenham Court Road.

Juggy Sound, New York Studio Recording The mixing and editing of “Changes”, “Power Of Soul”, “Message To Love”, and “We Gotta Live Together” was the focus of this session by Jimi and Kramer. One such edit was the removal of a short section of Jimi’s guitar An early section of “Power Of Soul”, marred by a short burst of Jimi’s out of tune guitar, was trimmed from the master.
