🔆 February, 15

🉐 1967.
Jimi is interviewed by Kevin Swift for the March issue of Beat Instrumental and the February 25th edition of Record Mirror. Jimi is also interviewed by Albert Bokslag and Cees Mentink for the February 25th edition of Kink.

Jimi (to Kevin Swift): “If I'd had two blues men with me, we would have gone straight into one bag the blues. That's not for me. This way we can do anything and develop our own music. We might do our own arrangement of a Howlin' Wolf number, followed straight away by 'Wild Thing', or a Bobby Dylan number. We'll do things our own way and make our own sound.”

Cambridge, Dorothy Ballroom, Sussex Street, Cambridgeshire, England, JHE
Concert (60 minutes).
Songs: unknown

Noel: “Lost two plectrums - bass eating picks. I could have used some Jim Dunlops.”

🉐 1968.
San Antonio Municipal Auditorium, 100 Auditorium Circle, TX, USA. JHE
Support: Soft Machine with The Mark Boyle Sensual Laboratory light show; The Moving Sidewalks; Neal Ford And The Fanatics
Songs: Hey Joe // Wind Cries Mary // Purple Haze // and others unknown

Mitch: “The next stage of the tour was Texas, first time we’d been there. I think we did four days there, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston, something like that. We were assigned one security guard for all four days. This typical big, burly, easy-going Texan made sure we weren't hassled too, a nice guy. He drove us around and really looked after us.”

🉐 1969.
Olympic Sound Studios, London, JHE
Producer: Jimi Hendrix
Song: Shame, Shame, Shame

Noel: “On the second session it was no show at all. I went to the pub for three hours, came back, and it was still ages before Jimi ambled in. Then we argued. There seemed no way to get working. Either there was no one there or I'd show up to find the studio so crowded I had trouble squeezing in. Mitch was late. Hugh Hopper came down. Couldn’t get anything together (again). I suppose it was because we didn't want to get it together. The pressure from the public to create something even more brilliant each time, while basically expecting us to stay the same was crushing.”
