Noel: “The month-long Walkers Brothers farewell tour which began in late March was our real turning point. We had to crack England now or never, as Jimi’s work permit was running out. We paid for it. It was hell.”

New Musical Express Interview by Keith Altham
Jimi: “Most will come to see The Walkers. Those who come to hear Engelbert sing ‘Release Me’ may not dig me, but that’s not tragic. We’ll play for ourselves – we’ve done it before, where the audience stands about with their mouths open and you have to wait ten minutes before they clap.”

Disc and Music Echo:
Jimi: “I’m a bit worried about the type of people who’re gonna see the tour. If they come to see The Walker Brothers, then they’re not going to want us. I just hope they listen – but if they do scream for The Walkers during our act I’ll just ignore them and play for myself.”

Eric Barrett: “After the Hendrix concert in Philadelphia, an older lady who had just come from the concert gushed to me, ‘Isn’t it wonderful, all those young people coming out to hear Harry Belafonte!’ Belafonte was scheduled to appear the week after.”
