Ron Terry: “Hendrix’s rendition of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ incited the local police. ‘Jimi used to do ‘Star Spangled Banner’ near the end of every show, but when we did it in Houston a few minutes past our 11 p.m. curfew - the cops got weird. As he was playing the anthem a cop came over and pushed me up against a wall, telling me to instruct them to stop. I said, ‘Hey, he can’t stop right in the middle of a song! Don’t worry about it...’ We got through that night but the vibes backstage after the show were terrible. We didn’t know if we were going to get out of there.”
