Stockholm, backstage at Tivoli Grรถna Lund. Live radio transmission of a JHE interview by Roger Wallis for an unknown AM radio station. King George a.o. attend a party. "En Till" club - JHE (with Jimi on bass) jam with various Swedish musicians.

On his way to today's gig at the Tivoli Gardens, Hendrix asks a girl for directions. Her name is Eva Sundqvist. The band is turned out of its hotel.

The JHE flew in from Linate Airport, Milano, to Leonardo da Vinci (aka Fiumicino) Airport, Roma. Perform two shows at Teatro Brancaccio in Rome, Italy supported by Doctor K’s Blues Band, The Triad, Balletto Franco Estill Group and Pier Franco Colonna. Among the songs performed were “Hey Joe,” “The Burning Of The Midnight Lamp,” “Fire,” and “Foxey Lady.” Jimi Hendrix is photographed on stage during The Experience’s second show on May 24, 1968 at Teatro Bracaccio in Rome, Italy.

Mitch: “Rome was very pleasant. I remember that Jimi nearly got arrested. We had been to the Coliseum and were caught by the police at dawn with several young ladies.”
Two shows at 16:30 and 21:30.
Support: Pierfranco Collonna (backed by ‘Boa, Boa’), Doctor K’s Blues Band (newspaper ad has, ‘The Triad’); Il Balletto Franco Estill (a dance troup).
Audience: 1,343.

Jam lasting a couple of hours; first just Jimi and Noel on bass, then Jimi alone, finally with some musicians in the room, inc. Gรฉrard Feraud, bass (possibly some 8mm film exists).

Gรฉrard Feraud (Michel Polnareff's ex-guitarist): "In Spring 1968, I was on tour in Italy with Arthur Conley. On May 24, we played the Titial Club in Rome when all of a sudden the bass player of The Folks points out to me that Jimi Hendrix is in the front row. I felt very intimidated. At the end of the set he came backstage to meet us and asked if he could have a little jam. I offered him my guitar but he said "No, you play very well, I'll pay bass." That's how I came to jam with Jimi Hendrix, it was great".

With Fat Mattress. A superb set which yielded some of the guitarist’s best loved live recordings. The recent box set The Jimi Hendrix Experience features two such examples, an exquisite, twelve minute rendition of “Red House” along with an incomparable version of “Purple Haze”.
