The statement that Jimi was reluctant to play the gig, and that he was pressured into it by manager Mike Jeffery, were made 40 years-later, and just sound like the usual excuses/‘conspiracy’ bollocks. By all accounts this was a somewhat ramshackle affair with no working microphone available until the last two songs, by which point a lot of the audience had left.
