Doug Ketchum (fan): “The first time I saw him I was just 16. It was a very ‘black’ setting, because they only used white spotlights on the stage. Back in those days concerts were different because they didn’t have all the flash and laser beams. Hendrix didn’t need props and theatrics, he just played.
I remember Jimi had a hat on during the show. At some point he wanted to take off his hat. When he did take it off he jumped up off the floor and set it on top of his amplifiers. It was just something funny that I remember”.
