Noel: “There were only about 12 people at the Leeds gig the night before - I don’t think everybody up North had heard of us yet. It was also in a bit of a rough area. We still played our 45 minute set to them. They enjoyed it. As far as I can recall.”

Probably watched by many in the East too. West German TV could also be received by most East Germans. Although actively discouraged by the Communist Party, it seems it wasn’t blocked or a criminal offence to view.
