He came to the hotel and borrowed some money from me and he introduced me to his little girl he had with him. 1969. ⛵ Bob Dawbarn of Melody Maker interviewed Jimi by telephone. In the interview Jimi alluded to the reformation of the original Experience band. “I’ve been thinking about that for a long time. All I’m waiting for is for Noel and Mitch to make up their minds and we can get everything fixed. I saw Noel at the Fillmore and I think everything is working out fine with him. Now I am looking forward to seeing Mitch. He has been over there in England getting himself together.” Jimi also provided Dawbarn with some insights about the new music that he had been developing. “I’ve been writing a whole lot of things,” Jimi replied. In fact, we’ve got enough material now for another two LPs. We are trying to decide what to release and at what time. We’ve started recording and you should be receiving a single around the end of January. The title? It should be either ‘Trying To Be A Man’ or ‘Room Full Of Mirrors.’”

Noel: “11 October… Jimi, Mitch and I eagerly put pen to paper and signed… as exclusive artists to Jeffrey and Chandler….a seven year contract. We all felt embarrassed and shy about money. Surely it would be impolite to ask questions. It’d be like saying, ‘I don’t trust you.’ In our ignorance, we never realised how we were being tied up.”

During the second show, Herbie Rich sat in with the group on organ during “Like A Rolling Stone,” “Lover Man,” “Hey Joe,” “Fire,” and “Foxey Lady.”

Between 9 and 13 Washington DC, Jimi gets arrested jaywalking. Neville Chesters (Roadie): "I remember it because he didn't have a passport with him and there was great hassle. Being black and in Washington D.C. was not an easy subject for him. And he didn't have any form of id with him. It took him a long time to persuade the police that somebody would vouch for him and I remember a couple of phone calls back to the hotel and I think again Chas went down with his passport, etc. They did keep him in for quite a long time. Probably four hours I think. Mitch just went off shopping across the street, naturally! I think Jimi was fined. I have the sum in my mind of forty dollars but that sounds like an awful lot of money to be fined for jaywalking...
