Jimi plugged into Mary Ellen Simpson’s guitar amp. He was also seen taking pictures of them during their performance.

Jimi: “I heard some groovy sounds last time in the States, like this girl group, Ace Of Cups, who write their own songs and the lead guitarist is hell, really great.”

Mitch: “On the Sunday afternoon before the last show we did a free concert on a flatbed truck in Golden Gate Park, really nice. I used Spencer Dryden of The Airplane's drums for the gig - thank you, Spencer.”

Noel: “I use a Fender bass amp for the first time. There could be no more dramatic contrast to life in Monkees Land than our last day in San Francisco, where we played a free show from the back of a sun-drenched lorry in Golden Gate Park. Thousands of most unusual and colourful people danced in the open air and they inspired us to play a really strenuous set.”
