From this date on, in the studio, Noel would probably have used the new Fender Jazz bass he purchased on the 7th. He had been using it for concerts since the 11th.

Noel: “They kept complaining that we were too loud, though. Jimi always said, 'Well, there's nothing we can do about that.”

๐Ÿ”‘Jimi records a series of songs at Sound Center Studios (247 West 46th Street) in New York City. Recordings on this date include “My Friend” which features Ken Pine (12-string), Paul Caruso (harmonica), Jimmy Mayes (drums) and Stephen Stills (piano) accompanying Hendrix playing a bass guitar. The song would be later released on the posthumous album The Cry Of Love in 1971. Noel joined the session later in the evening bringing rise to an instrumental workout of 'Little Miss Lover' and while Jimi records a version of '1983…(A Merman I Should Turn To Be)'.

Neville: “Arranged for Fender gear to be returned... Drove to UCLA. Unloaded gear. Put all Fender gear in another truck to be returned.”


Noel: “Seattle was a brief hiatus however, and once back on the road the routine of star moodiness was back to the fore.”

Noel: “Went to gig. So stoned. Went down a bomb. Lots of requests for my number. Audience stormed the stage.”

Neville: “Great show. Had a lot of trouble with power supply, Jimi walked off in the middle of the show, finally got it right, group went back on.”

๐Ÿ”‘London, England Jimi attends the Postcard record release party thrown for Apple Records recording artist Mary Hopkins. The event is held at the Post Office Tower restaurant in London. Among the guests are Paul Mc Cartney, Eric Barrett, Donovan, Linda Eastman, Kathy Etchingham and many others.
