Chas took the group to visit The Who during a recording session.

Noel: โ€œKit Lambert and Chris Stampโ€ฆto impress us they took us โ€˜round their studio to meet their group, The Who, who had just struck lucky.โ€

Noel: โ€œIn Manchester we got stoned in the afternoon and nearly got thrown out of the hotel. In Manchester, a thin three-fan welcoming committee presented me the gift of โ€˜Pleaseโ€™ written 5,000 times. These days the bands werenโ€™t the only ones sniffing pure methedrine crystal and living off a rainbow of diet pills.โ€

Chris Liston (fan): โ€œI think one of the best gigs I saw in Manchester was Jimi Hendrix at the Palace. As I remember he stayed on stage longer that the theatre wanted him to, in the end they unplugged him.โ€
