1968. ๐ The Experience perform at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan with support from Cat Mother & the All Night Newsboys. Concert at 20:30. Audience: 10000 Noel: โNovember 30 is the date Jimi nearly missed. Mitch and I caught the plane and Jimi never showed. We were met in Detroit by people from Warners and taken to the hotel. Jeffery then phoned; โJimi has freaked outโ he says and is refusing to come. I donโt know what Michael said to Jimi but it must have been heavy, for Jimi decides to come at the last minute, though they have to hire a Learjet to get him there on time. In spite of it all, the show is a good one. Probably played well out of sheer relief.โ Details โช๏ธ: http://univibes.com/JimiPlaysDetroit.html

1968. ๐ธ Philharmonic Hall New York, N.Y. Two Shows. A very prestigious gig. JHE were the first โrockโ band as such to play there.
Noel: โThe plush velvet comfort of the Philharmonic Hall was a dream come true... The acoustics were impeccable. The subtlest nuance carried distortion-free to the furthest corners... It was sobering to follow the New York Brass Quintet and harpsichordist Fernando Valenti, and difficult to adjust to the thought that every vibration of every note would be heard!โ

1967. ๐ฏ Jimi's 25th birthday. โช Flying from Ringway Airport, Manchester, to Aldergrove Airport, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Apparently Jimi's management had asked for the JHE to be picked up in a white American limo, but the best the 'Festival Of Arts' people could come up with was a black Humber! Accommodation: "Grand Central Hotel", Royal Avenue, Belfast.
โช 'Festival Of Arts'/"Whitla Hall"/"Queens College", University Road, Belfast Concert (two shows - 19.00 and 21.15). Offstage, Jimi is incongruously mild, affable and unassuming. He sat in the dressing room, temporarily detached from the bevy of road-managers, and munched birthday cake. He constantly strummed a guitar covered in psychedelic patterns.

Noel: โIn Manchester we got stoned in the afternoon and nearly got thrown out of the hotel. In Manchester, a thin three-fan welcoming committee presented me the gift of โPleaseโ written 5,000 times. These days the bands werenโt the only ones sniffing pure methedrine crystal and living off a rainbow of diet pills.โ
Chris Liston (fan): โI think one of the best gigs I saw in Manchester was Jimi Hendrix at the Palace. As I remember he stayed on stage longer that the theatre wanted him to, in the end they unplugged him.โ

(Bristol Evening Post): There was a lot of broken guitars on the stage and glasses at the bar. Excited and drunk Welsh teenagers had to be deported after incidents at the auditorium bar. Others on the other side of the Severn Bridge came to support a Welsh band, Amen Corner. Screaming like patients, they insulted the other groups and threatened the police with brandishing stools and bottles. Then there was Pink Floyd and The Nice, who on their side destroyed an electric organ and shattered a few thousand pairs of eardrums before getting lost in a cloud of colorful smoke.
