1966.
🐩 Chas telephoned Noel to confirm that he has the job as bass player. Noel went to London by train, got there at 1 o’clock, and went to the Birdland. After that he went to the office, had a chat with the manager, and was told he was definitely in.
↪ Mitch: “...I was sacked from Georgie Fame’s Blue Flames on the Monday because George decided something, I don’t know what. I still don’t know what. Then on the Tuesday John Gunnell (Fame’s manager) mentioned to me that Chas Chandler and Jimi Hendrix, a friend of his, were over here, and would I care to go and have a play... Jimi said, ‘Okay, I will see you around’. Chas said there was a gig in Paris the next week with Johnny Hallyday and asked if we fancied doing it. So I said okay and spent three days rehearsing. Then off we went and that was how it started...”
