Studio recording of the JHE: “Hey Joe” (with The Breakaways - Margo Newman and Lissa Gray - on harmony vocals) and one other song.
Noel: “Did two songs. Used Chas’ bass. Sounded good at the session today. “We took about 30 takes of Hey Joe”.
Jimi: “Our music is improvisation. No number is the same twice. While we were working on ‘Hey Joe’ from the beginning to the recording session, I don’t think we played it the same way twice. But that was some time ago. We all dug ‘Hey Joe’ as a number, that was in October, so we put it down on record. It was the first time I had ever sung on a record, actually. Chas was sure it would be a hit.”
