Woburn Reporter: “The girls in the audience went quite mad when three hirsute and weirdly dressed characters came on. I am referring to The Jimi Hendrix Experience. They began with ‘Hey Joe’. George Douvris (fan): “Friends and I had reserved the first three rows. Besides a lengthy ‘Stone Free’ and ‘Hear My Train A Comin’’ Jimi’s performance also stood out with a great opening remark: ‘Hi, we’re the Jimi Hendrix Experience - remember when we opened for the Monkees two years ago and you walked out to get peanuts?”

Rick Johnson: “....Jimi put on a short ‘music’ performance that night, not a real ‘show’! He kept his back to the crowd much of the time, and many of us felt he was saving himself for his bigger shows. It wasn’t even a sold out crowd and the acoustics are terrible in Dorton Arena. I especially remember ‘Purple Haze’ and ‘Red House’ and at one point he shot shaving cream (or something) from his guitar neck in a (half hearted) sexual reference.”
